I’m serious, these guys have enormous blind spots you could run right under them and they couldn’t see you, transformers prime is really clever with camera angles to make sure either you don’t notice or that everybody seems in perspective closer or farther away than they really are in order to make sure everyone’s able to keep eye contact. Ratchet’s right to be concerned that they could step on a human; they can’t see anywhere below their robo-pecs without bending over to look down
Ratchet is a good doctor because his witty remarks have refreshing rehabilitating properties and his rare soft smile of genuine happiness cures all ailments.
TFP Smokescreen was perhaps one of my favorite designs for the Autobots after Optimus Prime and Ratchet. He was very expressive and had a good range of emotive moments.
He’s also a complete fucking dork and a giddy little fanboy over everything and dear primus, was he ever the optimist. Eager to help and really reckless and just an all around n00b.
Dragstrip: “Ah, it’s a beautiful morning. Do you know what is’a beautiful morning for, Wildbreak? Wildbreak: “Uhh, a nice wash and wax?”
He’s is not the brightest bulb of the bunch, and it doesn’t help that he’s burdened with the same old timey gangster accent as the rest of the decepticons on the show, but he’s a very sincere guy. Personality-wise, he’s cautious, a bit timid and prefers to follow instead of lead. He has a certain sense of style and he’s at least a little bit concerned with personal care and maintenance.
There’s been speculation about the origin of this guy and I’ve gotta say, he definitely has potential for being Breakdown and Knockout’s son all grown up. More likely he’s the replacement for Breakdown in the Stunticon Combiner (he’s closer to Breakdown’s g1 personality then Prime’s)…but he does have those red highlights, sharp digits, race car alt mode and more svelte body type then Prime Breakdown…. It’s an intriguing possibility.
He’s too precious for words, Dragstrip please stop hitting him, he’s trying to be a good decepticon.
I really love this part. Steeljaw was disappointed because his plan didn’t work and we don’t see him mistreating his subordinates (the thing that he throw it wasn’t intentional to hurt Clampdown) , he just want to be alone and we can see frustration in his face, I like to see that in a leader, more in a Decepticon leader because they always portrait them like releasing their frustration mistreating their subordinates or just destroying everything (Megatron in TFP for example), but Steeljaw no, he just want to be alone and deal with his frustration and not show to his fellows decepticons his frustrations.
because he’s been fighting decepticons for ages, right? surely he can manage this
so he looks at ultra magnus
and then he glances back at agent fowler – just in case
and then
and then
he side-eyes ultra magnus
he side-eyes ultra magnus
because yes that is how you conspire he’s seen it done before he knows
and then he leans down to talk to him
he leans down. like this is going to somehow make him less noticeable
and he has to lean down, too. he has to lean down because he’s so big. he’s big and red and blue and not inconspicuous at all
but he tries
he leans down
and he tells ultra magnus
talking out of the side of his mouth
talking out of the side of his mouth like that is somehow going to help baby you are the most giant alien robot in a race of giant alien robots you do not do conspiratorial
Every time I hear the Transformers Prime opening I want to cry because it’s one of the best cartoon openings ever imo. Not just song wise, but the entire animation too.
It’s a battle march that starts off with the main instruments (can’t quite tell what it is but it sounds like lower strings mixed with some sort of horn) sounding sorrowful but intense, while the video is very blue and dark (introducing the autobots). Then the main bit crescendos into the second part, which is higher, lighter, and overall has a more hopeful feel to it. The marching beat all but fades away. The animation is colorful and bright, focusing on greens (hope) and just the slightest bit of red (passion) as they introduce the kids.
THEN IT HITS THE DECEPTICON PART and it’s strong and intense and downright wrathful. The beat is more intense, more focused, more of a sprint than a march, and the instruments are low and heavy. Likewise, the animation is vividly red (passion and anger) and dark, fitting the music perfectly.
Also: the camera follows the movement instead of being fixed and letting things move. Just look at when Optimus transforms or when Starscream flies by. Everything flows into each other.
And just like that, they’ve managed to set the emotional tone for the overall plot and each of characters (Autobots, humans, and Decepticons), all in less than a minute.
TLDR; the opening might be my favorite part of Prime judging by how much I just analyzed it and it’s really fucking well made from a sound design and scene composition point of view.
transformers gen 1 bumblebee – between his speedo and his formless feet, this is a very clunky boy. small arms, not good for much anything, but his geometric face portrays a determined bot. 5/10
transformers animated bumblebee – he’s very fucking yellow. god he’s so yellow. you can tell almost immediately he’s kind of a jerk. he means no business at all. you see mischief in that smile. 7/10
rescue bots bumblebee – now this is a bumblebee. he’s a hero to all, with his friendly rounded edges and his bright eyes, this is the model autobot. 10/10
transformers prime bumblebee – definitely bigger than the other bees in both the actual shows and in image size. holy fuck. sharper than the last bee but still retains friendliness. his door wings steal first place, making him resemble an actual bee. 10/10
transformers RID bumblebee – well uh. yeah that’s a cybertronian alright. and he’s yellow so i guess it could lead one to assume he’s bumblebee. i don’t trust something about him. he knows he’s the main character and it changed him. it twisted something inside him. i don’t recognize whoever he used to be. 1/10
transformers the movie bumblebee – oh jesus fucking christ 0/10
