I haven’t gotten into the comics yet but I remember how ticked off people were about how Windblade’s design progressively gave her more obvious boobplate and the whole argument about “you shouldn’t have to add obvious breasts to make it clear an alien robot character is female”
which on one hand I understand, but on the other do you guys even remember what tfp Starscream looked like from the back
cyclonus: tailgate is one of the kindest, most tender, most wonderful mechs i have ever met. the more he is pushed away, the harder he tries. i am truly honored to know and love him.
tailgate: i love my boyfriend cyclonus he plurble
I ask myself what went through Airachnid’s head when she got attacked by those two a second later.
Did she wonder if it was the puns that pushed them over the edge? After all, she was second-in-command with no real signs of trouble between Megatron’s return from his little date with Unicron and this mission.
She knew why they where there… She talked about it with Starscream in a later episode. The one where she finds the insecticons.
In that case, it was smart of her to provoke a direct attack instead of waiting to be attacked from behind. I love her.
Breakdown’s so pleased to have a stake in this conflict that he can’t resist introducing Bulkhead, and Airachnid’s already decided that Breakdown is so inconsequential that she’s cutting him out of the interaction. A similar scenario will arise in “Crossfire” with deadly consequences.
Between the noises of their movements and the camera angles, as well as by creating a sense of impact when necessary, Transformers: Prime lets you get a real feel for how giant and heavy its titular alien robots are.
This is especially obvious in the first few episodes when we’re meeting the show’s main cast.
Vehicons don’t seem that impressive when Megatron is around, but compared to humans, they’re huge.
Even Arcee, who is smaller in height and especially width than her fellow Autobots, would make you feel really tiny.
The only Minicon isn’t too mini, either.
I would do a comparison of how the show’s sequel, Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015), lags behind in this aspect [without criticizing its brighter and simpler art style, since that has nothing to do with it], but that’s for another post.
so if “optimus prime” means “best first” and “megatron” means “large instrument” the entire transformers franchise revolves around the never-ending battle of epic proportions between Awesome #1 and Massive Tool
I finally downloaded a gif maker while taking screenshots (because why not, honestly) and i figured id try it out on my fav ep? (cause again why not?)
But like. Ratchet that’s so extra. you dont have to spin like that. you don’t.
I hope it’s okay to put this on this post but I keep thinking about why we always see bots (especially in TFP) spinning, jumping, sliding, generally doing some sort of extraneous movement whenever they transform and I wonder if it might actually help the process? You can certainly transform to altmode standing still, I’m sure, but perhaps having some sort of spin or momentum helps.
If you’ve never seen a Switch Pitch, let me tell you that they’re super fun toys and I have one and it never fails to make people go “what the hell” when I show it off.
They are these little balls that flip inside-out when you throw them or spin them, the momentum of turning causing them to, well-
do whatever the HECK this is I mean it’s not even really flipping inside out it’s just…flipping into a different configuration.
Maybe that’s why cybertronians tend to transform with a flourish- it’s easier, somehow, maybe the momentum helps to flex transformation seams into a “neutral” position (configuration 2 up there, so to speak) before they resettle into a proper configuration. Maybe it feels better to transform like this?
So optronixes has been busily decoding the Cybertronian glyphs of Transformers Prime.
And in doing so – discovered something amazing.
Bumblebee’s Cybertronian name isn’t Bumblebee.
It’s just Bumble.
We know this isn’t a character limit thing, because Bulkhead’s name is written out in full.
Which means the ‘Bee suffix was added after coming to Earth.
And now I’m imagining shortly after the original four’s arrival, Bumble doing recon on humans, as would be his scoutly duty to do so, and seeing them flee and flinch warily from tiny, yellow and black creatures, even when it’s just one. He brought it up to Ratchet, who then took it upon himself to research it (cursing and grumbling at human tech the entire way), and informing him about all of the small insects that come under the common reference of bees. One of these that he mentions, is of course bumblebees. Upon hearing that, Bumble – already attracted to these little yellow and black creatures that strike terror into the hearts of things much, much bigger than them for fear of their sting – excitedly asks everyone to start calling him Bumblebee.
Ratchet doesn’t have the heart to tell him that bumblebees are considered the mildest and least dangerous of bees.
